Weather forecast for the Arizona Trail in April

April on the Arizona Trail brings big swings across elevations. Lower deserts are mostly sunny and warm, with frequent clear or partly cloudy days and only brief showers. Daytime highs commonly reach the 20s to low 30s °C, while nights range from about 0–15°C. Mid‑elevation ranges trend cooler and cloudier at times, with occasional light rain. From the Mexico Border through Parker Canyon Lake, Canelo Pass, Casa Blanca Canyon, Apache Springs, Oak Tree Canyon, Lakes Road and down to the Gabe Zimmerman Trailhead, the pattern is mostly clear to partly cloudy with warm afternoons. Highs run roughly 20–31°C and lows 0–13°C, with occasional light drizzle or light rain. A brief cold intrusion can flip conditions to overcast with localized snowfall near the border, with daily precipitation near 13 mm.

Across Saguaro National Park, Redington Road, Gordon Hirabayashi Campground and up to Marshall Gulch, skies vary from overcast to clear. Warm lower-elevation days contrast with cool mountain stretches, with highs from 6–32°C and lows from -4–18°C. Showers pass through at times, including a notable rain near Saguaro around 11 mm and lighter amounts on the mountain.

From American Flag Ranch past Tiger Mine and Freeman Road to the Kelvin–Riverside Bridge, conditions are generally dry with abundant sun. Highs reach the mid‑20s to low 30s °C, and nights sit 7–17°C. A brief cloudy spell can bring a couple of millimetres of drizzle.

Through Tonto National Forest and Picketpost to the Vineyard Trailhead, the weather trends warm to hot with many clear periods. Highs climb 26–34°C with mild nights of 8–18°C. Rain is scarce, though a passing disturbance can drop about 3 mm.

From Pigeon Spring through Sunflower, Mount Peeley, and the Red Hills Trail Junction, variability increases. Highs range 16–34°C with lows 1–14°C as sun and overcast trade places. Showers are occasional, with one day near Pigeon Spring bringing around 7 mm and other spots seeing light totals near 1–2 mm.

Along the East Verde River to the Pine Trailhead, warmth gives way to spring storms on the Rim. Highs vary 12–32°C with nights 1–13°C. Episodes of rain and wet snow appear at Pine, with daily precipitation peaking near 14 mm amid otherwise drier breaks.

From FR 300 Trailhead and Highway 87 through Gooseberry Springs, Mayflower Spring, Marshall Lake, Cosnino Road Exit, and Schultz Pass, late-season cold fronts remain possible. Highs run 6–25°C with lows -3–10°C under alternating sun and overcast. Several waves bring rain or snowfall, with daily totals commonly 1–3 mm and occasional events near 9 mm.

Across Cedar Ranch and Moqui Stage Station to the Grandview Lookout Tower, the plateau sees mixed cloud and sun. Highs are generally 12–26°C with lows 0–12°C. Most days are dry, but a few passing showers can deliver light rain, including a localized event near 12 mm at Cedar Ranch.

Through the South and North Kaibab into the Kaibab National Forest and Telephone Hill, conditions swing between clear spells and wintry bursts. Highs span 4–26°C with lows -5–12°C. Several systems produce rain and snow, with daily precipitation of 2–7 mm amid longer dry stretches.

From Orderville and Winter Road to the Stateline Trailhead, volatility persists but sunshine increases toward the finish. Highs range 14–30°C with lows 1–12°C. Light drizzle or snow is still possible, yet many days are clear and dry at the state line.
