Weather forecast for the Arizona Trail in October

October on the Arizona Trail shows a strong south-to-north shift. Low desert sections are warm to hot, with daytime highs around 25-33°C and nights near 10-20°C, often clear with only brief showers. Climbing into the mountains brings milder days in the high teens to low 20s, cool nights, and occasional moderate rain. Near and north of the Grand Canyon, wintry spells are common: highs often in the single digits to low teens, hard freezes below 0°C, and light to heavy snow when systems pass. Clear breaks remain typical between fronts.
