In the month of August on the "Voie d'Arles" trail, the weather is diverse across its regions. In Occitanie, the journey begins with high temperatures, sunny skies and occasional bursts of rain, particularly near Arles and Saint-Gilles. As trekkers proceed, a mix of sunny and partly cloudy days with sporadic rain showers occurs, extending through places like Montpellier and Toulouse. In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, early segments bring alternating sunny days and heavy rain showers, especially as one moves from Vidouze to Somport. This route sees varied weather conditions with temperature highs peaking at 42°C in Toulouse while drops to lows around 1°C in the high-altitude areas of Borce.
Starting in Arles, sunny spells dominate with temperatures peaking at 40°C, occasionally interrupted by moderate rains. Moving through Saint-Gilles, sunny and dry conditions prevail, though heavy rain shows up a few days. By the time walkers reach Gallargues-le-Montueux, they encounter alternations between sunny days and partly cloudy skies, with ample dry periods. As the route continues to Vendargues and Montpellier, clear and sunny conditions rule with heatwaves, punctuated by episodes of moderate rainfall. Further towards Montarnaud and Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, sunny weather persists but gives way to occasional heavy rain showers, especially near Saint-Guilhem. Some rain showers frequent parts of Lunas and Lodève, but conditions remain predominantly sunny with comfortable temperatures.
Alongside Saint-Gervais-sur-Mare and Murat-sur-Vèbre, mostly sunny days with mild rains mark the weather, though Murat-sur-Vèbre has a few cooler days. The cooling trend continues to La Salvetat-sur-Agout and Anglès, where significant rain is encountered alongside sporadic sunny weather. Regions beyond like Boissezon and Castres maintain a blend of partly cloudy skies and sunny days with some mist, though heavy rain at times can bring cool relief. Trekking towards Dourgne, the weather remains warm and largely clear, but experiences periodic rainfall.
Approaching the final localities of Les Cassés and Avignonet-Lauragais, the weather shifts with more frequent rain successions amidst sunny phases. Yet, as walkers move through Baziège to Toulouse, bright and hot conditions prevail, peaking at 39°C, accompanied by occasional cloud coverage and patchy rains.
Beginning in Vidouze, alternating sunny days and heavy rain offer fluctuating conditions, with a mix of cloudy sky days. Transitioning through to Morlaàs and Lescar, the region endures substantial rain showers interrupted by clear sunny periods. As trails head to Oloron-Sainte-Marie, sunny days are often impacted by moderate rain showers, establishing a rhythm of sun and rain.
Further ahead, Sarrance experiences heavy rain showers interspersed with clear spells. This wet weather continues in Borce, where heavy rainfall increases in frequency, cooling the previously warm temperatures. Finally, trekkers reaching Somport face both torrential rains and moments of sunshine, wrapping up the journey with dramatic weather contrasts. August in Nouvelle-Aquitaine showcases weather volatility, underscored by persistent rain and soaring temperatures.
