Cumbria

Starting from the coast, low cloud and drizzle are common, with on-and-off light rain between brighter breaks. Moving into the western valleys, showers become frequent and can at times merge into longer wet spells; cloud often sits on the higher ground. Temperatures generally sit in the mid-teens to around 20 °C.

Over the passes toward the central Lakes, the pattern stays unsettled, with occasional heavier bursts and short, clearer windows that feel pleasantly mild. Crossing east toward the limestone and on to the county edge, the rain gradually breaks into patchy showers and longer dry spells appear, though overcast skies still outnumber sunny ones.

North Yorkshire

From Keld down Swaledale through to the market town stretch, many days start grey or overcast with light drizzle, but there are regular dry interludes and occasional brighter breaks. A few pulses bring heavier rain or a sharp downpour, then the air clears again. Temperatures are usually in the upper teens to mid-20s °C.

Across the Vale, conditions often turn warmer and more settled, with long dry stretches and hazy sunshine. Some days feel notably warm and a touch humid, though isolated showers can still pop up.

Climbing onto the North York Moors, the weather becomes more changeable again: cloud can cling to the tops with passing light showers, then open to broad sunny spells. Dropping toward the coast, onshore influence brings bouts of low cloud or drizzle, but many periods stay dry and bright, and it feels a little cooler by the sea.
