In February, the Camino del Norte experiences varied weather conditions across its regions. The Basque Country sees frequent rain showers with occasional sunny spells, while Cantabria often endures moderate to heavy rain with some dry days. In Asturias, weather shifts from sunny and dry periods to sporadic rain showers, which can be heavy at times. Galicia experiences a mix of rain and dry spells, with temperatures occasionally rising to moderate levels. Throughout the Camino, temperatures fluctuate from cold to mild, typically ranging from lows of 0°C to highs around 20°C.
Starting in Irún, February often brings patchy rain and heavy showers with temperatures ranging from 1°C to 16°C. San Sebastián shows a similar pattern with some partly cloudy days between rains. In Zarautz and Deba, the weather alternates between cloudy skies, moderate rain, and brief sunny intervals. Markina-Xemein also experiences a mix of rainy days and dry spells, with the weather gradually becoming milder as you reach Bilbao and Portugalete.
Entering Castro Urdiales, heavy rain at times is common, gradually giving way to partly cloudy days as you move through Laredo. Güemes and Santander see regular moderate to heavy showers, punctuated by sunny spells, particularly in Santillana del Mar. Comillas experiences alternating rain and sunshine, with occasional periods of dry weather.
In Colombres, there is a marked contrast between sunny days and heavy rain intervals. Further along in Llanes and Ribadesella, partly cloudy skies and sunny periods are accompanied by moderate rain showers. Passing through Colunga, rain showers become more frequent, tapering off somewhat as you approach Gijón. Avilés and Muros de Nalón enjoy long periods of fair weather interspersed with occasional heavy showers.
Ribadeo sees a return to moderate rain at times, with ample dry periods. Moving inland to Mondoñedo and Abadín, heavier rain showers become common. Vilalba, Baamonde, and Sobrado dos Monxes experience intermittent rain but with several sunny periods. As you reach Arzúa and O Pedrouzo, the weather remains a mix of patchy rain and sunny intervals, setting the tone until you complete your journey in Santiago de Compostela.
