The Camino del Norte, or the Northern Way, is a walking route from the north coast of Spain to Santiago de Compostela. The weather can change a lot because you pass through many different regions.
If you start from Irun in the Basque Country, the weather can be different every day in March. It could be sunny or raining. There is often rain in coastal places like San Sebastián and Zarautz because they are near the ocean. The temperature usually stays around 13°C.
When you go through towns like Deba and Gernika, it might rain a lot. The sky often has some clouds but there can also be sunny days. The temperature usually stays between 12°C and 7°C.
When you reach Lezama and Bilbao, it tends to rain less, and the sky often has some clouds but you may also have sunny weather. Here, it rains less and it's a drier part of the route.
As you continue to Portugalete and Laredo, there are more sunny days, though there might still be some rain. The temperature stays mild, getting up to 14°C in some places like Castro Urdiales.
The next part of the journey takes you through Gijón and Avilés in Asturias. Here, sunny days are usual with short periods of rain. The rain is lighter here compared to previous places. The weather can get a bit warmer.
The last part of the route goes through Galicia, including towns like Sobrado dos Monxes and Arzúa. The weather here is like before, with sunshine but also some rain, which can be heavy. The average daily temperature is around 14-15°C.
Finally, in Santiago de Compostela, you'll likely have more sunny days, though it may also rain. Be prepared for both sunny and rainy days. The average March temperatures are mild.
