May on the Fife Coastal Path is changeable and often grey, with bright breaks that lift the day between passing showers. Light drizzle is common, and a few days bring longer spells of rain; dry windows still appear and can stretch into a pleasant afternoon. Temperatures are cool to mild overall, often feeling cooler by the sea, and evenings stay on the chilly side. Sunshine can make short sections feel springlike, but cloud tends to rebuild. It is a month of mixed skies and on and off rain rather than prolonged extremes.

Starting near Kincardine and along the inner Forth to Limekilns, May often brings low cloud and damp starts. Light drizzle is frequent, with short clearer or dry spells slipping in between passing bands of rain. Skies rarely stay settled for long on this opening stretch.
East toward Burntisland and Buckhaven, the pattern stays changeable. Showers remain the main feature, sometimes banding into longer periods of steady rain, while brighter gaps open for a few hours at a time. Overcast days are common, but it is not relentlessly wet.
Around the East Neuk from Elie to Kingsbarns, there are longer dry interludes, yet passing showers and occasional heavier bursts still sweep through. A very rare wintry flurry can show up in May, but it is an outlier amid otherwise chilly rain.
North toward Leuchars, Wormit Bay, and on to Newburgh, pulses of rain continue to alternate with clearer, milder windows. The sunniest breaks here can feel warm for a time before more cloud and showers return. Through the month, daytime temperatures generally sit in the low to mid-teens Celsius, with nights mostly in the single digits.
