April on the Fife Coastal Path is changeable and often cloudy. Expect plenty of grey skies with frequent light showers or drizzle, now and then giving way to heavier bursts. Brighter spells do break through between fronts, offering occasional sunny windows. It feels cool to mild overall: chilly at times in the breeze, more comfortable when the sun appears. Starting on the Forth-side stretches, conditions are often overcast with patchy drizzle, sometimes building to steadier rain. Short brighter intervals appear between passing fronts, but cloud generally leads the day. A cold northerly spell can still throw in sleety or even wintry showers for a time. Temperatures mostly sit in the high single digits to low teens Celsius.

Through Levenmouth and into the East Neuk, the pattern stays mixed: frequent cloud with light showers or drizzle, and occasional heavier pulses off the sea. Dry windows do occur, and some days offer clearer breaks before the next band arrives. Onshore winds are brisk on open beaches and headlands, adding a chill. Brief flurries remain possible in colder snaps, though they are short-lived.

Rounding towards Kingsbarns and St Andrews, the coastline is more exposed and the breeze becomes a steady companion. Expect a blend of cloudy spells and passing showers, with the odd spell of heavier rain. When the cloud thins, afternoons can feel mild, but wind quickly restores a cooler edge on cliff-top and dune sections. Clearer interludes do occur, though they rarely last all day.

Across Tentsmuir and along the Tay to Wormit Bay and Newburgh, longer overcast stretches are common, punctuated by light drizzle or a brief shower. Some days stay largely dry, with hazy sunshine breaking through for a while. Winds often ease near the estuary, though gusts can funnel along the water during changeable spells. The overall theme remains cool and changeable rather than persistently wet.
