March on the Fife Coastal Path is changeable and often overcast. Light drizzle or showers are frequent, with some dry windows and the odd brighter spell. Heavier rain can sweep through at times. Short-lived sleet or wet snow is possible, especially around colder snaps, but it rarely lingers at the coast. Days feel cool and the air is damp; nights can be chilly.

Starting beside the Firth of Forth, the first stretch often sits under low cloud with patchy light drizzle. Dry spells do appear between showers, but a cold pulse can bring brief sleet or wet snow before turning back to drizzle. Temperatures sit in a cool band—days mostly in the single digits to low teens Celsius, with nights at or just above freezing at times.
As the route turns along broader beaches and headlands, the pattern stays changeable: grey skies, occasional brighter breaks, and frequent light showers. From time to time a more organized band of rain moves through, giving a few hours of steady, sometimes heavier, rain. Between these bands the air feels clearer, but the ground can stay damp.
Around the East Neuk, showers continue to come and go, though there are days with longer dry interludes. A milder spell can lift the feel briefly, but cooler, damp air soon returns. Any wintry precipitation here is usually short-lived along the shore.
Across the dunes and estuary edges toward the Tay, light rain or drizzle remains common, punctuated by occasional brighter windows. Heavier bursts are possible as fronts cross, and a stray sleety shower can still appear, especially inland of the immediate shoreline. Near the final inland reaches, conditions often alternate between overcast and showery, with some calmer, drier intervals before the next band arrives.
