Navarre

From the Pyrenees crossing, the weather swings between cloud, mist and light rain, with brighter windows around midday. As the route descends into the foothills and basin, skies open more often and afternoons warm, though a passing shower or brief storm can still roll through. Westward across the valleys and into the vineyards, settled days become more common, and heat can build on clear stretches. Typical temperatures run from cool-to-mild mornings to warm or hot afternoons (roughly mid-teens to low 30s °C at the hottest).

La Rioja

Into La Rioja, the pattern turns sunnier and drier overall, with long spells of blue sky and thin cloud. Afternoons are mostly warm and can push hotter during short heat surges, while mornings stay comfortable. A brief shower or thundery burst is possible, but most days pass dry with light breezes. Expect mild mornings and warm–hot afternoons (mid-teens to low 30s °C at times).

Castile and León

Across the Burgos area and onto the Meseta, the sky feels wide and the weather steadier, with many dry, sunny days. Afternoon heat can build over the open fields, while mornings start cooler and the daily range is large; a gentle crosswind often develops. Scattered showers or a short-lived storm still pop up, but they are intermittent and localized.

Beyond León, the climb into the Montes de León brings quicker swings—sunshine giving way to cloud, occasional showers, and the odd rumble of thunder near the higher passes. Dropping into the Bierzo valley, it turns warmer and more settled again, with bright afternoons and only isolated showers. Across the region, mornings are cool to mild and afternoons warm to very hot in spells (mid-teens to mid-30s °C at the extremes).

Galicia

Over O Cebreiro and into Galicia, Atlantic air takes over: more low cloud, morning mist, and frequent light drizzle, especially on ridges. As the route winds through the green hills and river valleys, skies often brighten by afternoon, though passing showers are common. Warm spells do occur in the valleys, but temperatures are generally moderate and humidity higher than east of the mountains. Look for mild starts and comfortably warm afternoons (roughly mid-teens to upper 20s °C, with occasional higher spikes).
