The Camino Francés cuts through different regions with varying climates, some easy and some difficult.
The journey begins in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and passes through places in Navarra, La Rioja, and Burgos. The weather in these beginning stages can change a lot, especially in June. You can usually expect a mix of sunny and cloudy days, with maybe some light rain at times. The temperature usually stays mild, with highs around 20-25°C and lows around 10-15°C.
Next, you will go through Palencia and León. The weather might still change a lot in these areas, and there might be some heavy rain. Be ready for rainy days. The temperature stays fairly warm, with highs usually about 25°C and lows around 10-15°C.
Near the end of your walk in Galicia, it might get cloudier and rain more. But, there will also be sunny times to look forward to as you get closer to Santiago de Compostela. Here, temperatures might be a bit cooler, with highs around 20°C and lows near 11-13°C.
In summary, the weather on the Camino Francés can change a lot each day, but overall it's usually not too hot or too cold. You should be ready for some rain, but also expect plenty of warm, sunny days.
Starting two weeks before your Camino begins, we’ll email you an updated weather forecast for each day of your journey, based on the newest data. Stay prepared for whatever the trail may bring!
