Weather forecast for the Camino de Santiago Francés in February

February on the Camino Francés feels wintry and changeable. Days swing between grey skies, brief sunny breaks, and frequent episodes of rain; higher ground often sees snow and low cloud. Navarre

Crossing the Pyrenees sits firmly in winter: frequent cloud, fog, and a real chance of snowfall, with biting wind on exposed ridges. Dropping into the valleys, the pattern turns mixed—overcast spells, light drizzle or rain, and occasional snow flurries on colder days, punctuated by short, brighter windows. As you roll west through the foothills, passing low passes and gentle farmland, showers come and go while dry stretches lengthen, though a passing front can still bring a wet, chilly day. Temperatures sit around freezing at dawn and can reach the low teens Celsius in milder spells.

La Rioja

The entry into Rioja brings a cool, often overcast rhythm with scattered light rain and, at times, wet snow when colder air lingers. Between systems, skies thin to hazy sun and calmer, dry hours, though nights can dip to frost. Through the vineyards the feel stays cool rather than cold, with afternoons occasionally nudging into the low teens Celsius.

Castile and León

Beyond the Montes de Oca and across the Meseta, many days are grey and breezy, with long dry stretches broken by light drizzle or a brief flurry; the wind over open fields can sharpen the chill. Approaching León, changeable skies persist, alternating between dry, bright intervals and passing showers. The climb toward Foncebadón re-enters wintry ground, where snow, fog, and gusty winds are possible before easing on the descent. In the Bierzo basin, the air turns a touch milder with rain more common than snow, and temperatures range from around freezing at first light to the low teens Celsius when settled.

Galicia

The crest at O Cebreiro often holds winter—low cloud, frequent drizzle, and periodic snowfall on colder incursions. Dropping into the valleys, Atlantic weather takes over: frequent light rain or drizzle and slow-moving cloud, with occasional heavier bursts. Through inland Galicia the pattern stays showery and breezy from the southwest, but brief sunny gaps can open between fronts. Temperatures are generally cool, running from mid single digits to the low teens Celsius.
