In February, hikers along the Camino de Santiago Francés can expect a variety of weather conditions across the different regions. Navarre experiences frequent rain and overcast skies, with temperatures ranging from chilly lows around 0°C to mild highs of 17°C. La Rioja shows a mix of cloudy and rainy days, with temperatures between -6°C and 16°C. In Castile and León, the weather fluctuates with moderate to heavy rain interspersed with sunny periods, and temperatures from below freezing to around 20°C. As hikers move into Galicia, they encounter more rain and cloud with moderate temperatures varying between -6°C and 21°C. There are numerous rainy days, with occasional bouts of sun breaking through, making the journey through this part of Spain a dynamic weather experience.
Starting in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, the weather can be overcast with rain and temperatures peaking at around 16°C. The journey through Roncesvalles to Pamplona involves heavy rain showers and periods of cloud coverage, with highs between 7°C and 18°C.
The trail continues to Puente la Reina and Estella, where rain remains a constant companion, although sunny intervals provide respite with highs reaching around 17°C.
In Logroño, alternating between clouds and heavy rain characterizes the region, with highs reaching up to 16°C. Moving through Nájera to Santo Domingo de la Calzada, expect significant rain and brief sunny periods, with temperatures ranging between 0°C and 15°C.
The trail moves into Belorado and Burgos, where temperatures can reach up to 13°C. Heavy rain showers and overcast days are frequent along this stretch. Passing through Frómista and Carrión de los Condes, rain showers continue with highs up to 16°C.
In León, the weather oscillates between sunny and rainy days, with occasional snow, and highs reaching 14°C. The journey through Astorga and Ponferrada offers some relief with sunny interludes, yet heavy rain showers persist.
Entering Galicia, the region is predominantly rainy with temperatures from 6°C to 19°C. O Cebreiro sees major rain events, while Triacastela and Sarria experience frequent showers. As hikers travel towards Santiago de Compostela, the patterns remain with heavy rain showers and short sunny breaks, temperatures peaking at 18°C.
