In September, the Camino Francés from Sarria experiences a mix of weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from warm in the daytime to cooler in the evenings. Despite the variability, September remains a popular time to walk the trail, as it combines manageable weather with the scenic progression into autumn.
Starting in Sarria, walkers encounter varying conditions. The temperatures can climb to 29°C with lows around 9°C, while rainfall might reach up to 36 mm on wetter days, with conditions ranging from patchy rain to fog. As the trail reaches Portomarín, the weather remains varied, with highs potentially reaching 34°C. Here, occasional heavy rain showers are interspersed with sunny periods, but rainfall remains light. In Palas de Rei, conditions can include both sunny intervals and overcast skies, with some days seeing brief patchy rain, amid highs of 32°C and lows down to 8°C.
Approaching Arzúa, walkers experience a mix of weather patterns, with days featuring heavy rain followed by dry spells, and calmly sunny moments with the highs reaching up to 30°C. The journey to O Pedrouzo presents similar variability, with clear skies and cloudy interruptions, moderate rain showers occurring occasionally, and temperatures fluctuating between 18°C and 28°C. Finally, in Santiago de Compostela, the weather remains mixed, including sunny, but also rainy spells. Highs can reach 30°C while precipitation is variable, up to 8 mm on the heaviest days.
