The Camino Francés, when starting in Sarria and ending in Santiago de Compostela, often experiences different weather conditions in March. This route mainly goes through Galicia, a region with a lot of weather changes.
On your journey, you can expect some days to be cloudy, partly cloudy, and rainy. Rain, from light to heavy, happens often. But it usually doesn't rain all day and you can expect some clear weather and sometimes sun.
As for how warm or cold it gets, you can expect mild and fairly steady temperatures. The highs are usually around 11-13°C, while the lows can get to around 4-8°C, which is normal for the region in early spring.
Average rainfall differs along the route, usually between about 4 mm/day to a little over 7 mm/day. Galicia is known for a lot of rain, so you shouldn't be surprised if it rains.
Starting two weeks before your Camino begins, we’ll email you an updated weather forecast for each day of your journey, based on the newest data. Stay prepared for whatever the trail may bring!
