In June, walkers along the Via di Francesco experience a mixed weather pattern. Starting in Roma, the weather initially presents heavy rain showers followed by stretches of clear, sunny skies. As the journey progresses through locations such as Monterotondo and Rieti, there's a blend of sunny days and occasional moderate rain showers. Moving towards Assisi and beyond, there are sunny intervals interrupted by showers and thundery spells. The temperatures generally range from the low teens to the mid-twenties Celsius, providing a warm yet sometimes wet environment for adventurers.
The journey begins in Roma with intermittent heavy rain showers breaking up the sunny spells. Temperatures fluctuate around 20–28°C with the rain most pronounced early on. Moving to Monte Sacro and Monterotondo, similar weather patterns continue, with periods of rain giving way to brighter spells, while temperatures barely drop below 10°C at night.
As travelers approach Ponticelli di Scandriglia and Rieti, the rain persists interspersed by sunny interludes, and highs reach from 24°C up to 31°C. By the time walkers reach Poggio San Lorenzo, a pattern of dry sunny days alternating with rain showers becomes apparent.
Into Poggio Bustone and Piediluco, the weather transitions to frequent rainfall amidst warm sunny intervals. Rainfall can be significant but doesn't last long, with more clear skies as these sections progress. In Ferentillo and Spoleto, sunnier conditions start to stretch longer with moderate temperatures of 20–30°C but not without occasional downpours.
The route to Assisi offers a noticeable shift towards predominantly sunny weather, though sporadic showers and rain are still encountered. As trekkers enter Valfabbrica and onwards to Gubbio, sunny weather becomes even more established, but June's characteristic scattered showers remain a factor.
Continuing into Pietralunga and Città di Castello, warm sunny weather dominates with few rainy intermissions. Highs hover comfortably in the upper twenties Celsius, allowing for a conducive walking experience.
Near the journey's end, Sansepolcro and Pian della Capanna maintain the sunny trend, albeit with intermittent showers, holding daytime highs near 30°C. Finally, as walkers reach Pieve Santo Stefano and La Verna, they are welcomed by predominantly clear skies with only sparse chances of rain to close the month along this beautiful trail.
