Switzerland

The route begins in Lausanne, where July presents a mix of sunny and rainy days with temperatures ranging from 17°C to 29°C. As you progress through Vevey and Aigle towards Saint-Maurice, expect moderate to heavy rain showers interspersed with sunny spells. The weather becomes milder with highs generally remaining in the low to mid 20°Cs. Moving towards Martigny and Orsières, the journey is characterized by patchy rain, moderate rainfall, and brief sunny days with temperatures rising slightly. In Bourg-Saint-Pierre, the weather turns cooler with some instances of snow, before transitioning to views of Col du Grand-Saint-Bernard where rain showers and patchy snow are possible.

Valle d'Aosta and Piedmont

As the route descends from the Swiss Alps into Italy, temperatures in Étroubles and Aosta fluctuate between the mid-teens and low-30s°C, marked by moderate rain showers. In Châtillon and Verrès, the pattern of sunshine interspersed with brief but intense rain showers continues. Further south in Ivrea and Vercelli, July promises many warm, sun-filled days. Expect occasional heavy showers or thunderstorms, with daily highs rising up to the mid-30°Cs. This general pattern extends down to Robbio and Tromello with mostly sunny skies and intermittent storms.

Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna

Crossing into Lombardy at Pavia and Belgioioso, high pressure dominates, ensuring hot, predominantly dry conditions with sporadic rain that may include heavy showers or thunderstorms.

At Piacenza and its surrounding areas, a similar weather pattern follows, marked by sunny skies and episodes of heavier showers. As you advance from Fidenza to Fiorenzuola d'Arda, July offers plenty of sun with localized bursts of rain.

Tuscany

Entering Tuscany, the path through Pontremoli and Lucca brings warmer, sunnier conditions; however, the occasional patch of moderate rain is foreseeable, particularly in Berceto.

Further south towards Siena and San Gimignano, expect clearer skies, with temperatures soaring into the high 30°Cs. Though largely dry, brief episodes of rain accompany the sunshine, more likely in San Miniato and Gambassi Terme.

Lazio

Emerging into Lazio, the route briskly heats up from Viterbo to Sutri, with highs consistently climbing into the mid-30s°C. Expect mostly clear skies with sporadic heavy showers, especially around Montefiascone and Viterbo.

Arriving at the final stretch toward Rome, through Campagnano di Roma and La Storta, anticipate hot summer days with minimal precipitation—occasional rain showers remain possible but are far less frequent as you approach the capital.
