In June along the Via Francigena del Sud, the weather varies significantly across regions. Lazio experiences a mix of sunny and overcast days, with intermittent moderate rain showers. Temperatures generally range from the mid-teens to low twenties at night and low to mid twenties during the day. In Campania, temperatures gradually rise from the low twenties to the high twenties, with occasional rain showers and partly cloudy skies. Apulia sees the highest temperatures, reaching into the thirties, often accompanied by sunny periods and sporadic heavy rain, especially later in the month.
Starting in Roma, the weather features sunny periods mixed with moderate to heavy rain, particularly early on. Temperatures hover between 20°C and 28°C during the day. As the route progresses towards Minturno, sunny days become more frequent, though rain showers occasionally interrupt, with highs around 26°C.
In Sessa Aurunca, conditions are warm with highs reaching 32°C by mid-June. Rain showers are common in the early days, but sunshine prevails as the month progresses. When reaching Benevento and Buonalbergo, heavy rains are noted early in the month before transitioning to largely sunny conditions with temperatures reaching above 40°C by the end.
Entering Celle San Vito, temperatures soar into the thirties, predominantly under sunny skies. As the trail moves towards Brindisi and eventually Leuca, sunny weather dominates, frequently interrupted by moderate to heavy rain showers in brief but intense episodes. By the time you reach Tricase and Leuca, the clear skies return, and temperatures consistently remain in the thirties.
