Nouvelle-Aquitaine

From the Atlantic coast into the first Basque hills, November often brings thick cloud and frequent light to moderate rain. Short clearer windows appear between passing fronts, but the ground tends to stay damp. It feels cool and increasingly fresh as you leave the shore.

Across the interior foothills and valleys, days flip between overcast spells with drizzle and brighter interludes. As you gain height, showers commonly turn to sleet or snow on the higher crests, while the valleys remain wet rather than wintry. Temperatures feel cool in the valleys and cold on exposed ridges.

Approaching the higher limestone and granite country, wet systems are stronger. High passes and cirques see regular snowfall with cloud clinging to the ridges; in between, calmer, clearer days do occur. Lower down it is often showery rather than persistent, but the air stays crisp and the ground can be slick.

Occitanie

Entering the central Pyrenees, the pattern stays unsettled. High terrain frequently picks up snow, while lower valleys see rain or drizzle under long overcast spells. Brief sunny breaks follow each disturbance before the next one arrives. Overall it feels cold in the mountains and cool in sheltered valleys.

Through the Ariège high country, snowfall episodes are common on cols and plateaus, with frozen surfaces lingering in shade. Valleys alternate between low cloud, light rain, and occasional brighter periods. When systems deepen, precipitation can be heavy for a time before skies open again.

Farther east toward Canigou and the Mediterranean, conditions ease a little. Low elevations have more dry intervals and some mild, sunny afternoons, though light showers still pass through and overcast days are not rare. Exposed crests remain chilly with a dusting of snow at times, but the coast often finishes more broken cloud and brighter spells.
