Dry windows do appear, sometimes bringing brief brighter spells, but they are usually short. Temperatures sit in the mid single digits to low teens Celsius, and exposed sections can feel brisk. Starting out from Killarney into the Black Valley and on toward Glencar, expect a mostly overcast, damp pattern. Drizzle and light rain are common, and heavier showers can sweep through at times. It stays cool, generally in the mid single digits to low teens Celsius, with the hills occasionally seeing a wintry mix in colder snaps.
Continuing west past Glencar to Glenbeigh and along the north side toward Cahersiveen, the unsettled theme holds. Showers and drizzle alternate with short, calmer gaps, and a few brighter breaks can slip in around the coast. Heavier pulses are still possible, and higher ground may catch a brief sleety flurry. Overall, it feels grey more often than not, but there are brief, usable lulls between bands of rain.
Following the south coast through Waterville and Caherdaniel to Sneem, the trail is more exposed to incoming Atlantic systems. Bands of rain pass through regularly, sometimes moderate to heavy, with short settled spells in between. Breezy headlands and open bays can make showers feel sharp, though occasional clearer intervals do occur.
From Kenmare back toward Killarney, expect a return to frequent showers and long overcast stretches. Drizzle is a near-constant companion, with occasional heavier bursts as fronts cross the mountains. On nearby uplands, a brief wintry shower remains possible before conditions settle back to damp and cloudy.
