Setting out from the inland sections, from woodland and lake edges toward the higher passes, the days are often grey with light rain or drizzle coming and going. Dry interludes appear between showers, and a few clearer spells crop up, but cloud tends to cling to the hills. Rain intensity varies, with some hours staying misty and light before a more solid band of rain moves through.

Continuing west around Glenbeigh to the northern coast of the peninsula, the pattern stays changeable. Overcast skies dominate with frequent drizzle and light rain, and occasional heavier bursts sweep through, making some stretches decidedly wet. Short drier windows still arise between fronts, but they tend to close quickly.

Along the southern coast from Waterville through Caherdaniel to Sneem, rain becomes more persistent at times, with downpours that can soak the trail. Showers stack in from the Atlantic, though there are still pauses with lighter cloud or brief brightness. Cloud coverage is often thick near the higher ridges.

Turning east toward Kenmare and back to Killarney, conditions ease a little, with more overcast-and-dry stretches mixed with light drizzle or light rain. Heavier rain is still possible when a system rolls through, but breaks become a bit longer and more usable. Sunshine remains limited, yet occasional clear slots offer views before the cloud returns.
