February on Kungsleden is deep winter. Skies are mostly overcast, with frequent light to moderate snowfall and occasional heavier bursts. Short clear or partly sunny windows appear, but they seldom last. The air stays well below freezing most days, especially on the high plateaus, so snow is usually dry; in the far south and lower valleys brief milder pulses can edge conditions toward wet snow or a touch of drizzle. Overall it feels cold, snowy, and subdued.

Starting in the far north around Abisko and over the high ground toward Tjäktja, the pattern is wintry and cloudy. Light to moderate snow falls often, with some days bringing heavier, more persistent snow that reduces visibility. Between systems, overcast lingers with only brief breaks for weak sun. Temperatures generally sit well below freezing, keeping the snow dry.
Beyond the pass toward Sälka and Singi, then down to the lakes at Kaitumjaure and Teusajaure, snow showers remain frequent. A few calmer spells bring thinner cloud or short clear moments over the valleys, before another band of snow arrives. On milder pulses the lower valleys can feel slightly softer underfoot, but higher terrain stays crisp and cold.
Through the forested stretch around Sitojaure and Aktse toward Kvikkjokk, the cloud thickens again with recurrent snowfall, at times steady and heavy. There are also quieter, grey days with little new snow. In sheltered valleys an occasional thaw brushes the surface, turning flakes wetter and, very rarely, into drizzle.
From Kvikkjokk south past the lake country toward Jäkkvik and Ammarnäs, the rhythm continues: mostly overcast, frequent light to moderate snow, and a few stronger systems that refresh the cover. Calm gaps do occur, offering hazy light before the next front. Lower valleys can briefly flirt with a wetter mix, but the overall feel stays wintry.
On the final approach through Aigert, Tärnasjö, and the Syter–Viterskalet high ground to Hemavan, conditions stay changeable. Many days bring snow, sometimes in heavier bursts on the exposed heights, separated by still, overcast interludes and the odd clearer spell. Near the southern trailheads, brief thaws are possible, making the snow moist, while the higher plateaus remain firmly cold and snowy.
