Weather forecast for the Kungsleden in June

June on Kungsleden is changeable and often cloudy. Northern and higher ground still see passing snow showers, while lower valleys swing between overcast skies, light rain or drizzle, and brief sunny breaks. Most days feel cool to mild, colder over the passes and more comfortable in sheltered valleys, with the odd burst of springlike warmth when a settled spell arrives. Showers move through quickly, but when Atlantic systems reach the mountains, rain can linger for many hours. Expect frequent shifts between damp, grey stretches and clearer windows within the same day.

Starting out in the far north, the trail climbs quickly into exposed country where the pattern is unsettled. Overcast skies dominate with frequent light showers, and at elevation snow still comes and goes between brighter gaps. Short clear intervals can open wide views before the next band of precipitation arrives. Temperatures along the route sit roughly 0–20°C, coldest across the high passes and milder in the valleys.

Continuing south into the lake basins and broader valleys, precipitation tilts more toward rain than snow. Days alternate between low cloud with drizzle and showery intervals that break for patches of sun; occasionally a front brings steady rain for much of a day. The air feels a touch milder here, though cooler pulses still drop in behind passing systems.

Through the central forests and hills, the mixed pattern persists. Many days are overcast or partly cloudy with scattered showers, but longer dry spells do occur and can feel distinctly mild. When systems thicken, rain can turn persistent with locally heavy bursts, while the highest bumps may still catch a stray wintry flurry.

On the southern leg toward the finish, conditions trend milder and a bit more stable, yet showers remain a regular feature. Expect a blend of grey, damp stretches and brighter windows, with occasional warm, pleasant days between passing bands of rain. In more exposed valleys, some rain events can be prolonged or briefly intense, before skies lift again to broken cloud and filtered sun.
