In July, the Laugavegur trail experiences a range of weather conditions with varying temperatures and precipitation levels. Overall, the weather consists of frequent rain showers, interspersed with partly cloudy to sunny intervals. Temperature highs generally range between 10°C and 21°C, while lows fluctuate between 5°C and 12°C. Precipitation varies significantly, with some days experiencing heavy rainfall and others remaining relatively dry.
The journey begins with a mix of weather conditions at Landmannalaugar. Early in the month, moderate to heavy rain showers occur frequently, with temperatures reaching highs of 14°C to 21°C and lows around 6°C to 12°C. As we move to Hrafntinnusker, the trend of moderate rain continues, although partly cloudy and overcast skies occasionally break up the rainfall. Temperatures remain fairly steady, peaking at 13°C to 17°C.
Continuing on to Álftavatn, expect similar weather patterns with occasional sunny spells amidst the rain. Highs stay around 10°C to 18°C, and lows fall between 5°C and 11°C. Rainfall can be significant, especially during intense showers. At Emstrur, rain decreases slightly, with more frequent dry and sunny periods. Even so, temperatures remain consistent, with highs of 10°C to 15°C.
Finally, reaching Þórsmörk, the weather presents a combination of moderate rain showers and overcast to partly cloudy skies. The temperatures stabilize with highs of around 11°C to 16°C, rounding out the diverse weather experienced throughout the journey.
