From the start at Le Puy-en-Velay, walkers often see sunny days with some clouds and sometimes patchy to heavy rain. Temperatures usually vary from a cool 12°C to a warmer 24°C.
Walking south through areas like Aumont-Aubrac, Nasbinals, and Saint-Côme-d'Olt, the weather usually stays the same. There are many sunny days, a bit of rain, and some clouds. The nights can get quite cold, around 12°C, while the days are usually in the mid-twenties.
When you reach Estaing, you could face a small dip in average temperatures with a higher chance of more serious rain. However, when you get to central spots like Conques and Livinhac-le-Haut, it gets a bit warmer and mostly sunny. There can be some heavy rain or cloudiness, but they're usually fewer than the sunny days.
As you get near the southern parts like Cahors to Moissac, there are many sunny days, less rain, and temperatures can go up to around 30°C during the day. Some cloudy days may provide a cooler break from the hot summer sun.
In the last part of the walk, from Aroue to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, the temperature often cools down to the mid-twenties. Here, the weather is inconsistent, with a mix of sun, rain, cloudiness and overcast. The nights are usually mild, with temperatures in the mid to high teens.
Overall, walkers should be ready for different weather which changes with the location. There's usually a pattern of sunny to partly cloudy days with some rain, and daytime temperatures range from the mid to high twenties.
