When you start walking the Camino Lebaniego at San Vicente de la Barquera on the coast, you can usually expect mild weather. It's often around the teens in degrees Celsius with sun, clouds and some rain. As you travel towards Potes and Espinama inland, the weather might remain the same, but it could get slightly cooler, and the chance of rain stays but expect some sunny moments too.
When you reach Espinama, you begin to move into the mountains and the weather can change a lot here, especially at Portilla de la Reina. Light freezing rain is possible and it’s good to be ready for sudden weather changes. It can get really cold here, even to as low as 3°C. And in Riaño, you might even encounter snow.
Moving along the path to Crémenes and Cistierna, it can get even colder. You could experience light freezing rain or snowfall, though there might be less chance of plain rain. So here, it might feel more like winter.
Towards the end of your walk, at places like Gradefes and Mansilla de las Mulas, expect more clear, sunny or partly cloudy days. But it can still be quite cool, and it might drop below freezing. There is a lesser chance of any kind of rain. The journey's weather is a mixed bag due to the changing landscapes: there's sun, rain and winter-like weather. But mostly, there are sunny and partly cloudy days.
