The Cammino Materano is a trail in southern Italy's Puglia region and it has a mixed Mediterranean climate. The weather can be sunny or rainy, and it is not unusual to have cloudy days. But often, the sky clears up, giving hikers a mix of sun and shade.
Temperatures fall between 13-16°C on average, but it can get a bit colder, especially in the early morning and late evening when temperatures can be between 6 and 11°C.
Rainfalls are common on the route but how heavy they are can vary. Sometimes there will be just light, patchy rain, other times it can be heavier. But generally, the total amount of rain is quite low, meaning that when it rains, it's usually not too heavy.
Closer to the city of Matera, towards the end of the trail, there are more sunny days. But it can still rain, so it's important to always be ready for rain throughout the trip.
