Haute-Savoie

Starting at Les Houches, skies are often overcast and snowfall is frequent, with several episodes turning heavy. Through Les Contamines, brief clearer windows appear between systems, but most days remain wintry; milder spells at valley level can bring sleet or drizzle instead of snow. Pushing on toward Tré-le-Champ and Refuge La Flégère, snow showers redevelop with periodic heavier bursts, and sunshine is usually short-lived. Returning to Les Houches, expect another mix of cloud and intermittent snow, with temperatures mostly below freezing and only short thaws at low elevations.

Aosta Valley

Over the border toward Les Chapieux, fresh snow is common and occasionally intense; during rare mild intrusions the valley can flip to wet snow or rain. Around Rifugio Elisabetta it turns colder and stays firmly wintry under persistent cloud with ongoing light to moderate snow. Dropping into Courmayeur, the pattern becomes changeable—snow showers one day, brighter breaks the next—with occasional mixed precipitation in town during a thaw. Climbing to Rifugio Bonatti, it trends colder again, staying generally below freezing with frequent cloud and recurrent snowfall.

Valais

Entering Switzerland at La Fouly, the weather remains wintry, with regular snow showers and some heavy bursts under mainly cloudy skies. Through Champex-Lac, short sunny spells open between systems, but overcast and fresh snow return quickly. Over Col de la Forclaz, conditions stay cold with lingering cloud and on-and-off snow, punctuated by brief clear windows. Temperatures are mostly below freezing across this stretch, with only sheltered lower spots flirting with a thaw.
