If you plan to walk the coastal route of the Camino Portugués in northern Portugal and Galicia, Spain during April, be prepared for different types of weather. It could be sunny or rainy; the weather isn't very predictable.
The journey starts in Porto, Portugal, and travels north towards Labruge and Póvoa de Varzim. Here, the average high is about 16°C and low is near 9°C. It might rain heavily, be bright and sunny, or both. If it does rain, it doesn't usually last long.
As you keep walking towards Marinhas, Viana do Castelo, and Caminha in Portugal, the temperature might slightly increase to about 17°C. Sunnier days are more likely in this part, but it might still rain heavily.
Once you cross into Galicia, Spain, the weather in places like Porto Mougás, A Ramallosa, and Vigo still keeps changing. The temperature stays around mid-teens, but there might be sunny days, rainy days, or cloudy days. The rain might be heavy when it happens.
The last part of the journey through Redondela, Pontevedra, Caldas de Reis, Padrón, and Santiago de Compostela in Spain will be similar. Rain might come and go, there might be sun, or it could be partly cloudy. The temperature might slightly increase to about 17°C towards the end of the route at Santiago de Compostela. There might also be heavy rain sometimes.
In short, when walking the Camino Portugués in April, be ready for weather that keeps changing. It might be sunny, it might rain a little or heavily, but the temperature stays around the mid-teens.
