The Camino Portugués de la Costa is a route for pilgrims with mild temperatures. January temperatures can be between 10°C and 14°C in the day but fall to between 4°C and 10°C at night. This route often gets rain and can be cloudy.
When you start in Porto, the weather will probably be cloudy with some heavy rains. Temperatures are usually between 9°C and 14°C. Moving from Labruge to Póvoa de Varzim, you'll still experience much rain.
When you reach the middle of the path, which crosses Marinhas and Viana do Castelo, you will get more sun. But, moderate or heavy showers may still occur. Daytime temperatures stay around 14°C, while at night it may drop to around 8°C.
Going further north, from Caminha to Porto Mougás, expect the weather to be sunny but still with mixed showers. Temperatures decrease to around 12°C to 13°C during the day and 6°C to 7°C at night.
When you enter the Spanish region of Galicia, from A Ramallosa to Vigo and Redondela, the weather becomes less predictable. You might experience sun, cloudiness, or different types of rain. The temperature drops a bit more, averaging around 12°C during the day and 5°C at night.
At the end of the route, from Pontevedra to Santiago de Compostela, the weather becomes more unpredictable, with more rain. It can sometimes shower heavily. The temperature drops even further to about 10°C to 13°C during the day and around 4°C at night. This part of the route often gets lots of rain.
