Northern Portugal

Beginning in Porto, the month of July offers a mix of warm, sunny days and intermittent showers. The highs vary significantly, reaching up to 32°C on particularly warm days. A sequence of sunny spells can be briefly interrupted by patchy rain and cloud cover, providing cooler interludes. As the trail progresses through Labruge to Póvoa de Varzim, the coastal influence remains significant, with temperatures continuing to rise as some days reach as high as 30°C under clear skies.

Continuing north towards Viana do Castelo, walkers encounter a blend of warmer days and more frequent instances of rain. Despite the occasional moderate shower, several days remain perfect for exploring, graced with clear weather and highs that can surpass 30°C. Traversing to Caminha, the weather pattern persists, where days of sunshine predominate with scattered heavy rain showers briefly appearing.

Galicia

Crossing into Galicia, the Camino offers a more varied climatic experience. While sections from A Ramallosa to Vigo enjoy ample sunshine and daytime temperatures occasionally peaking above 30°C, the frequent overcast days suggest a noticeable change as you proceed inland. From Vigo to Redondela, the warmth is consistent, with many days clear and pleasant, interrupted occasionally by light rain.

As the route nears Santiago de Compostela, weather conditions fluctuate more noticeably. Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis enjoys clearer skies, although rain becomes more pronounced, adding substantial cooling relief at times. Closer to Santiago, rain showers increase in frequency, ushering in cooler high temperatures and periodic cloudy skies. Even with the rain, sunny intervals provide a fulfilling finale to the journey.
