The Camino Portugués Interior starts in Lisbon, Portugal, where winter temperatures are usually between 10°C and 16°C with mostly sunny days. But be ready for some rain and cloudy weather too. As you move north through towns like Alpriate and Vila Franca de Xira, you'll find slightly cooler temperatures and more diverse weather, including more rain.
When you reach districts such as Azambuja and Santarém, temperatures remain similar, but it rains more frequently. The same goes for the cities of Golegã, Tomar, and Alvaiázere. In Alvorge, Cernache, and Coimbra, weather conditions stay mostly the same, but it might rain more often and get a bit colder.
Moving towards Penacova and Mortágua, temperatures can drop to between 7°C and 12°C, with frequent rain showers. The temperature continues to drop in Tondela and Viseu where it can be between 5°C and 12°C, and it often rains heavily.
The weather gets colder when you walk through Ribolhos, Bigorne, Lamego, and Santa Marta de Penaguião, with temperatures between 3°C and 11°C. In Vila Real and Vila Pouca de Aguiar, it'll be just as cold and likely to rain a lot.
As you get closer to Spain, through towns like Vidago, Chaves, and Verín, expect cold temperatures between 3°C and 12°C. Snow is also possible in Vidago. Viladerrei, which marks the end of the journey through Portugal, has temperatures from 2°C to 11°C. Snow is less common here, but it can still happen.
Upon entering Spain through Galician cities like Xinzo de Limia, Allariz, Ourense, Cea, and Santiago de Compostela, you'll find similar cold weather and lots of rain.
All in all, when walking the Camino Portugués Interior, be prepared for cool temperatures and variable rain conditions. Weather will get colder and rainier as you move northward.
