Starting in Lisbon, the weather on the Camino Portugués Interior route is usually mild. January temperatures range from around 16°C in Lisbon to about 10°C halfway in Viseu. Nights are colder, from about 10°C at the start to almost freezing when inland.
The weather varies, with much sunshine at first but more chances of rain as you go further. But mostly, there will be sun or partly cloudy days.
From Viseu to Santa Marta de Penaguião, expect the same weather changes. Even if it might rain, there will be many sunny days and light rain. In northern Portugal, like Vila Real and Chaves, it's a bit colder but similar.
In Spain's Galicia region, it gets colder too, with day temperatures of around 10-11°C and night temperatures going down to 2-3°C. The weather varies a lot, from sunny to cloudy, with chances of moderate to heavy rain.
By the time you reach Santiago de Compostela, expect cooler days at around 10°C and night temperatures of about 3°C. It's often rainy here, but it might also be sunny or cloudy.
To sum up, the Camino Portugués Interior route has different weather conditions but usually has sunny, partly cloudy, or rainy days. Temperatures are cool to cold during this winter journey, and it can get colder at night, especially when inland.
