In January, Camino Primitivo witnesses fluctuating weather conditions as it traverses through Asturias and Galicia. Asturias experiences a mix of sunny days, moderate to heavy rain showers, and patchy rain. Temperatures vary from 0°C to 18°C, often accompanied by cold nights dropping to lows of -1°C. Galicia, on the other hand, continues with similar variability. There are bouts of heavier rain, partly cloudy skies, and periods of drier weather towards the end of the journey. Temperature highs fluctuate between 2°C and 16°C with lows occasionally dipping to -4°C.
Starting in Oviedo, the weather varies with patchy rain, moderate to heavy rain showers, and occasional sunny spells. Temperatures range from highs of 18°C to lows of 0°C. As one moves to Grado and Salas, the weather continues with partly cloudy days and occasional moderate rain, seeing highs around 15°C. Through Tineo and Borres, there is moderate rain with showers, and sunny intervals, with temperatures peaking at 16°C. In Berducedo and Grandas de Salime, the rain persists with high humidity levels, exacerbated by heavy rain showers, while highs reach 16°C.
In A Fonsagrada, the weather starts with cold spells and freezing rain, slowly transitioning to moderate showers. The temperatures range from a chilly -3°C to a moderate 13°C. Heading to O Cádavo and Lugo, forecasts predict freezing rain and overcast skies which later break into occasional sunshine, with highs around 14°C. Through Ferreira to Melide, the rain becomes frequent and heavy, affecting travel with high precipitation levels and temperatures hitting around 14°C. Finally, in Arzúa, O Pedrouzo, and Santiago de Compostela, the rainy patterns persist. Temperatures remain variable, with highs between 9°C and 14°C and the weather showing brief sunny breaks amidst cloud cover and substantial rain showers.
