The South West Coast Path often has changing weather because it’s near the coast. Temperatures are mild, usually between 17-19°C during the day and 11-14°C at night. The weather can be unpredictable with patchy rain and cloudy skies. Sometimes, you may get sunny or partly cloudy days. Rain of all kinds, from light to heavy, is common, especially in places like Lynton and Braunton.
Later on in the route, temperatures drop to around 15-16°C during the day and 10-12°C at night. The weather usually remains mixed, with patchy rain and overcast days, but you might still get some sunny periods. Areas like Plymouth and Ferrybridge often get more rain, sometimes over 4.0 mm/day, and heavy showers become more common.
Overall, the climate here is moderate but unpredictable, with frequent rain throughout the journey. Be ready for a mix of cloudy, rainy days and occasional sunshine, especially towards the end of September.
