November on St. Olavsleden is mostly grey and damp. Cloud cover dominates, with frequent light rain, sleet, and intermittent snow, punctuated by brief brighter spells. The feel shifts from cool near the coast to colder inland and on higher ground, and conditions often flip between thaw and freeze. Precipitation arrives in pulses, and heavier snow can set in at times, especially away from the sea. Overall it is a changeable, wintry month with a raw chill rather than deep midwinter cold.
Leaving the coast and heading inland, skies are often overcast with long stretches of light drizzle or mist. Temperatures sit around freezing to the mid‑single digits, so precipitation flips between cold rain, sleet, and wet snow. Short drier windows appear, but pulses of precipitation return, occasionally delivering heavier snowfall for a few hours before easing. By the western edge of the region the air feels a touch colder and nights dip below zero more often, so fresh snow lingers longer between thaws.
Crossing into Jämtland, the pattern turns more wintry and more firmly snow‑leaning. Daytime readings are often below freezing to low single digits, and repeated snow showers build up, with some systems bringing sustained, heavy falls around the lakes and into the uplands. Between Bräcke, Östersund and the valleys you can still see mixed precipitation during milder intrusions, but high ground toward Åre, Tännforsen and the border holds on to colder air. Near the passes around Medstugan and Skalstugan, frequent snow, sharper frosts, and occasional clear lulls define the days before the next band of cloud arrives.
Descending into Trøndelag from Sul, the weather stays unsettled but more maritime. Temperatures hover around freezing to the mid‑single digits, and precipitation toggles between wet snow, sleet and rain in the lower valleys, while higher spots keep snow. Through Vuku, Stiklestad, Munkeby and Markabygda, bands of snowfall can be intense at times, alternating with overcast lulls. Past Lånke and Nyhus toward Ranheim and Nidaros, the fjord influence brings milder, wetter spells and brief clearer breaks, though bursts of heavy, sticky snow still occur.
