Auckland

Starting in Auckland, the weather sees an array of conditions from sunny days to moderate or heavy rain showers. The temperatures vary significantly, with highs peaking at 20°C and lows dropping to around 6°C during some colder spells. Rainfall is considerable, reaching up to 28 mm on wetter days, amidst occasional patchy rain or partly cloudy skies.

As the journey progresses through Mangere Bridge, The Gardens, and down to Rosehill, similar fluctuations in weather are observed. There are moments of complete overcast skies and moderate to heavy rain showers, notably with highs around 18°C and lows averaging 8°C. Sunshine peeks through intermittently, providing brief dry spells amidst the rain, which can accumulate to nearly 20 mm in abrupt episodes.

Continuing to Bombay, walkers experience persistent moderate or heavy rain, interspersed with cloud cover and bouts of sunshine. Highs reach approximately 18°C, while lows descend to near 6°C, highlighting the dynamic nature of this segment's climate.

Waikato

As walkers enter the Waikato region at Meremere, the weather becomes marginally milder with occasional sunny intervals breaking up moderate or heavy rain showers. Highs throughout Waikato range modestly between 10°C and 18°C, while lows rest between 2°C and 13°C. Despite periods of sunshine, rainfall accumulates significantly, particularly in areas like Pukete, where it can reach up to 34 mm in a single day.

Traveling south through Huntly, the weather reveals a mix of cloudy skies and intermittent rain, with moderate rain at times punctuating otherwise dryer spells. Temperatures stay relatively steady with highs around 17°C.

Heading past Otorohanga and Waitomo, the patterns persist with alternating sunny and overcast days, compounded by heavy rain at sporadic intervals. Here, walkers witness the heaviest downpours, with precipitation nearing 38 mm in certain instances.

Finally, reaching Te Kūiti, similar to earlier stages, fluctuating sunny and rainy days characterize the end of the route. However, notable shifts in temperature are observed at the tail end of June, where daylight brings warming highs up to 16°C despite continuing overnight lows that approach freezing.
