The trail begins at Cape Reinga, where walkers encounter partly cloudy weather and occasional heavy rain with temperatures peaking around 18°C. As you progress to Te Paki, the weather remains variable with periods of sun and moderate rain, with highs up to 19°C.
Moving towards Te Kao and Pukenui, sunny spells are interrupted by heavy rain showers and patchy rain, with highs ranging from 13°C to 18°C. At Waipapakauri, conditions remain overcast, with intermittent heavy rain showers and moderate temperatures around 18°C.
Along the coast to Ahipara and Kaitaia, the weather consists of sunny days mixed with heavy rain showers, with temperatures often reaching up to 19°C. Further towards Raetea Peak and Mangamuka, the pattern of sunny spells and heavy shower continues, with highs around 17°C.
From Kaikohe-Hokianga to Whangarei, similar weather persists with highs reaching 19°C, accompanied by frequent rain showers. As hikers reach Whananaki and Matapouri, heavy rains and overcast conditions dominate, peaking at 20°C.
Continuing to Ngunguru and Pataua, the pattern of alternating sunny and rainy days is consistent, with heavy rain at times and temperatures up to 21°C.
Approaching the final stretches to Auckland, walkers will continue to experience moderate rain showers, interspersed with sunny and cloudy days, with temperatures around 20°C in the Auckland area.
