Heavy rain days are interspersed with dry, chilly days, peaking with around 39 mm of rainfall. As you move toward Greenstone and Greenstone Hut, the conditions are overcast with occasional heavy rain, particularly affecting Greenstone Hut with up to 23 mm in a day. Taipo Hut is similar, with rain showers followed by occasional sunny periods, temperatures between -2°C to 11°C, and rainfall reaching 24 mm.
At Careys Hut, there are significant bursts of rain, reaching 18 mm, coupled with a notable chill, dipping to -4°C. Continuing to the Fiordland Community and The Key, the weather remains unpredictable with freezing rain and moderate snowfall, alongside sunny periods. At Mackinnons Garden and Birchwood, heavy rains are frequent, with short sunny intervals raising highs to 13°C. Rainfall fluctuates, peaking at over 17 mm. Wallace Takitimu Community and Ferndunlaw follow this pattern of rain showers interspersed with partly cloudy spells.
