Fiordland

Starting in Queenstown, expect temperatures varying from 2°C to 10°C, with significant rain showers and occasional bouts of light freezing rain. Moving toward Greenstone and Greenstone Hut, the outlook includes frequent moderate rain showers, and temperatures usually linger between 1°C and 11°C. Rainfall decreases slightly as trekkers reach Taipo and Careys Hut, but conditions remain overcast with light freezing rain possible, especially as temperatures drop to -3°C. The Fiordland Community and The Key feature cold, snowy conditions with lows of -10°C, and heavy showers that maintain a damp environment.

Southland

Upon entering Southland starting at Aparima Hut, the weather consists of moderately cloudy skies with occasional rain. Highs may reach 10°C and lows linger near 0°C. As you proceed to Lower Wairaki Hut, rainfall becomes more frequent with temperatures from 1°C to 10°C, while Mackinnons Garden is often cloudy with intermittent showers. Finally, as you near Round Hill, you experience slightly warmer conditions ranging from 2°C to 16°C with sporadic heavy rain.
