The Vézelay route starts in Burgundy, where in early spring it's usually 7°C to 14°C. It tends to rain quite a bit during this season. From Vézelay to Châteauroux, you can expect regular rain showers, sometimes heavy, and occasional light freezing rain.
After Châteauroux, as the route enters the Centre region, the weather improves slightly - there's less heavy rain, and it's often cloudy. The temperature here is usually between 10°C and 12°C during the day, and drops to 2°C to 4°C at night.
As you walk from La Souterraine to Limousin, the conditions keep improving. There are often sunny days with occasional rain, and the temperature increases to around 10°C.
The weather gets even better as you enter southwestern France and Aquitaine. There are lots of sunny days and less rain, with temperatures often rising above 12°C.
Finally, as you approach the Spanish border, expect warm, semi-temperate weather. The average temperature is usually around 14°C to 15°C. There's still some chance of rain, but it's not as frequent as earlier in the route.
