In January, the weather along the Vía de la Plata shows considerable variation across its regions, starting with relatively mild temperatures and occasional rain in Andalusia and becoming more unpredictable as you move north into Galicia. The journey through Andalusia begins in Sevilla, where temperatures hover between 17°C and 12°C. There is occasional patchy rain interspersed with sunny days. As you move to Guillena, the weather stays similar, with highs of 17°C and clear days broken by moderate rain showers. Castilblanco de los Arroyos witnesses some heavy rain, but generally enjoys sunny weather with temperatures around 19°C. Ending in Almadén de la Plata, it continues with a mix of sunny days and some heavy rain showers, with temperatures peaking at 19°C.
In Monesterio, temperatures range from 16°C to 4°C, with frequent sunny intervals but also heavy rainfall at times. Fuente de Cantos shares similar weather, experiencing several sunny and overcast days with brief moderate rain showers. In Zafra, despite starting sunny, more moderate showers occur, with highs around 15°C. Villafranca de los Barros experiences a notable sunny spell, with temperatures hitting 17°C.
In La Calzada de Béjar, expect mostly cloudy conditions with temperatures of 16°C and occasional rain. Fuenterroble de Salvatierra reports a drop in temperatures with frequent cloud cover and some freezing rain. Salamanca experiences cold weather with continuous cloudiness and occasional light freezing rain, while Zamora sees a mix of sunny and overcast days with highs around 14°C.
As you reach Galicia, starting in A Gudiña, the climate turns noticeably colder with frequent moderate to heavy rain showers, temperatures ranging from 14°C to 0°C. Laza follows suit with periods of heavy rain and brief sunny spells. In Xunqueira de Ambía, heavy rains are a constant feature, while Ourense, although mostly cloudy, enjoys intermittent sun and occasional heavy showers. Finally, in Santiago de Compostela, the journey concludes with persistent overcast skies, moderate rain, and the occasional light drizzle, with temperatures maxing out at 16°C.
