Weather forecast for the Via Scandinavica in October

October on the Via Scandinavica is changeable and often grey. Cloud cover is frequent, with light showers and drizzle moving through between brighter windows. Most days feel cool to mild, while mornings and evenings can be chilly. Rainy spells can be brief or linger for several hours, and one or two days may turn properly wet, especially near the coast. Farther south the pattern stays mixed but can grant longer dry stretches, and on higher ground a rare early flurry is possible. Sunshine still appears, yet it tends to be short-lived and leave a generally damp, autumnal feel.

Schleswig-Holstein

Starting on the Baltic coast, days swing between overcast skies, light drizzle, and short clear breaks. Moving south along the coast, showers become frequent, with occasional heavier bursts that can make a day feel thoroughly wet. Farther inland toward the Elbe, the mix persists but dry interludes open up a bit more between passing bands. Temperatures sit mostly in the low to mid-teens Celsius.

Niedersachsen

From the Elbe plain into the heath and the central lowlands, the weather stays unsettled: patches of drizzle, periods of light rain, and overcast spells punctuated by brief sunshine. A short mild surge can slip in for a day, making it feel noticeably softer before the next front. South toward the Leine valley and the foothills, the pattern alternates between mostly dry stretches and renewed showers under a lot of cloud, with increasingly cool nights. Most afternoons land in the teens Celsius.

Thüringen

Crossing into Thüringen toward the Werra valley and western hills, the air turns cooler and the sky often stays overcast. Light showers are common, with occasional longer periods of steady rain; on the higher stretches, a brief spell of sleet or wet snow can appear. Clearer windows do occur but are usually short. Days generally sit in the high single digits to low teens Celsius.
