Weather forecast for the Via Scandinavica in April

April on the Via Scandinavica feels changeable and quick to shift. Cloud cover is common, and many days bring on‑and‑off light showers or drizzle, with occasional heavier bursts moving through. Between systems the sky opens for bright, pleasant spells that can turn surprisingly warm before cooling again. Mornings are often chilly, and a stray wintry flurry is still possible on colder days, but most of the month sits in the cool‑to‑mild bracket. Brighter breaks are a bit more frequent inland, yet brief showers remain possible almost anywhere. Overall it’s classic spring: fast swings between gray and blue, frequent dampness, and more variety than extremes.

Schleswig-Holstein

Starting on the Baltic coast, days are often overcast with frequent light drizzle and occasional rain; short clear windows appear between passing bands. Moving inland toward Lübeck and down to the Elbe, the pattern stays unsettled, with showers coming and going and a few heavier bursts. Brighter interludes can feel springlike or briefly warm before another cloudy spell arrives, while nights can still dip close to freezing. Most afternoons land around 8–15°C.

Niedersachsen

From the Elbe south through Lüneburg and Hannover, the weather remains mixed: dry, bright stretches alternate with bands of showers and patchy drizzle. A few days turn distinctly warm, yet cooler air can still sweep through and flip a shower to sleet on higher ground. By the time the route nears Göttingen, the mix is similar, with sunshine breaking out a bit more often between showers. Typical afternoons sit around 12–18°C, but swings are wide.

Thüringen

Into the Eichsfeld and on toward Eisenach, conditions stay showery: light rain and drizzle are frequent, punctuated by occasional heavier pulses. Clearer breaks open between systems, and some days jump to warm before cloud builds again. On colder days, brief wet snow is still possible on the hills, though it rarely settles. Afternoons usually hover around 10–17°C.
