South Tyrol

From the trailhead toward Lago di Braies and up to Rifugio Biella, skies are often overcast with snow showers sweeping through; heavier bursts are possible as fronts cross. Between these spells, short clear breaks bring sharp visibility and colder air. Crossing the Fanes area, the pattern stays similar: frequent light to moderate snowfall with occasional drizzle or rain only on the lowest approaches, and long cloudy periods. Temperatures generally sit from subfreezing to just a few degrees above during the day.

Belluno

Over Rifugio Lagazuoi and across the Nuvolau group, winter still holds. Snowfall is common and can be heavy at times, with many gray days and brief sunny windows in between. As the route drops toward Rifugio Città di Fiume, precipitation continues on and off, falling mostly as snow on exposed heights and as light rain or drizzle where the path skirts lower slopes.

Beyond Rifugio Coldai and down through Rifugio Vazzoler and Rifugio Bruto Carestiato, the mix turns more varied: alternating dry spells and showery passages, with snow lingering on higher benches but rain more likely as elevation eases. South of Rifugio Sommariva al Pramperét and Rifugio Pian de Fontana toward the final valley at La Pissa, longer dry intervals appear between showers and some milder afternoons arrive, though nights can stay chilly. Overall it feels cold on the high ridges and cool to mild as you descend toward La Pissa.
