When should you start the Camino del Ebro (Deltebre to Logroño)?

For most walkers, starting the Camino del Ebro (Deltebre to Logroño) in March to April, or late September to early October gives the best conditions. These shoulder seasons bring comfortable temperatures, decent daylight, and fewer struggles with the valley’s heat or winter chill. The route follows the Ebro from the humid delta into wide, open country with little shade—so softer sun and cooler air make a big difference.

March–April (best for cool, lively spring walking)

Expect a classic spring mix: fresh mornings, mild afternoons, a few showery days, and some windy spells, especially across the open valley. Fields are green, the river can be lively, and tracks may be muddy in places after rain.

Late September–Early October (best for mellow autumn miles)

Early autumn brings settled, comfortable walking with softer sun and cool mornings. Vineyards around La Rioja are active, and the delta heat has eased.

May–June (fine for many, but edging warmer)

Late spring is still a pleasant time, especially near the delta and in Navarre/La Rioja. As you cross Aragon, though, heat and sudden storms become more likely.

July–August (generally not recommended)

High summer in the Ebro valley often means very hot afternoons with little shade. Even early starts can turn into sloggy midday finishes if you’re not careful.

November–February (cold, short days, changeable)

Winter brings a grab‑bag of weather: bright chilly days, fog along the river, rain, and the odd wintry episode inland—especially through Aragon. Daylight is limited.
