Weather forecast for the GR 20 in February

February on the GR 20 is firmly winter. High sections stay below freezing much of the time with frequent snowfall under

persistent cloud, while brief brighter spells open between passing systems. Daytime temperatures on the ridges often sit

near -5 to 5°C, with nights commonly well below 0°C and occasional plunges toward -15°C in the coldest pockets. Lower

and coastal stretches can turn milder, sometimes reaching the low to mid teens, but still see overcast skies and cold

rain. Precipitation arrives in waves, ranging from light flurries to prolonged snow or rain that can deliver around

20–50 mm in a day. Overall, conditions remain changeable and strongly wintry.

Haute-Corse

Starting near sea level, conditions are unsettled; overcast skies dominate with frequent rain and occasional wet snow, and highs vary from 5–17°C with lows 2–12°C. Daily precipitation swings from dry intervals to bursts around 31 mm. Climbing higher it turns wintry with sub-zero nights down to -7°C and highs from -2°C to 12°C amid repeated snowfall, with single-day totals up to 20 mm.

Farther along, mixed cloud and snow alternate with brief clear breaks; highs range from -3°C to 15°C and lows from -6°C to 9°C, and several heavy-snow days deliver up to 27 mm. The next alpine basin is colder, with highs -6°C to 13°C and lows to -10°C, seeing light rain at times but mainly snow, peaking near 9 mm in a day.

Around the higher crests, temperatures swing from -7°C to 11°C by day and plunge to -12°C at night, with frequent snow and occasional rain. Stormier spells bring around 21 mm in 24 hours. The following summit area stays deeply frozen, with sub-zero highs common, lows to -15°C, and heavy snowfall episodes near 19 mm.

Across the central plateau, wintry showers continue; highs -6°C to 10°C and lows -10°C to -1°C come with snow most days and a rain spike near 16 mm. The ridge remains snowy and cold, highs -5°C to 7°C and lows -12°C to -1°C, with a heavy fall around 37 mm. The pattern then oscillates between snow and rain, from -4°C to 9°C by day and down to -8°C at night, with the heaviest snow near 52 mm and rain up to 11 mm. Approaching the pass, conditions vary from snow to moderate rain, with highs 0–13°C, lows -9–6°C, and daily totals peaking near 45 mm plus another event around 24 mm.

Corse-du-Sud

The southern high ground is predominantly snowy and overcast; highs range from -7°C to 8°C and lows from -11°C to 0°C. Snowfall can be sustained, with single-day amounts up to 27 mm. Continuing across exposed ridges, highs run from -7°C to 6°C with lows -11°C to -1°C, mostly cloudy with intermittent snow and occasional rain around 9 mm.

Further on, wintry cloud persists with highs -5°C to 5°C and lows -11°C to -1°C, including a notable snowfall near 11 mm. A little lower, temperatures moderate at times, highs -4°C to 10°C and lows -9°C to -1°C, alternating overcast spells with showers; rain can reach about 23 mm, while snow amounts around 7 mm also occur.

Approaching the southeastern massifs, conditions mix from clear breaks to snow, with highs -1°C to 12°C, lows -10°C to 4°C, and a heavy-snow day near 19 mm. The terrain then trends milder, highs 2–15°C and lows -4–5°C, yet still sees vigorous events including about 29 mm of rain and 26 mm of snow. Descending to the finish, it is much milder with highs 10–17°C and lows 1–10°C; skies alternate overcast and partly cloudy, and rainfall is generally light to moderate, peaking near 10 mm.
