Climbing toward Clavans-le-Bas the air turns colder and snow showers become more frequent under stubborn cloud. On the heights around the Refuge des Mouterres, winter hangs on with regular snowfall and occasional heavier dumps between short, calmer windows. Temperatures run from cold on the tops to cool or mild in the valley.
Further along, dropping into Le Désert en Valjouffrey and Valsenestre, the pattern stays changeable: mostly cloudy with light rain or drizzle at times, then brighter intervals.
