Weather forecast for the GR 54 in June

June on the GR54 is changeable and lively. Expect a mix of bright spells and cloudy periods, with frequent showers and occasional longer rain that can settle in for part of a day. The higher passes stay cool and often damp, and brief wintry flurries remain possible on the loftiest cols when colder air brushes the range. Down in the valleys it often feels spring-to-summer warm between showers. Dry windows do appear, but unsettled pulses move through regularly.

Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

From Le Bourg-d'Oisans into Clavans-le-Bas the pattern is mixed, with overcast stretches and light rain or drizzle punctuated by brighter breaks in the valley. Climbing toward Refuge des Mouterres, conditions turn cooler and more closed-in; showers are frequent and can become steady for hours, and nights feel cold on the high ground. Dropping through Le Désert en Valjouffrey and Valsenestre brings some drier interludes but also passing bands of rain that at times fall hard before clearing again. Over the crest by Refuge de la Muzelle and back toward Le Bourg-d'Oisans it stays the most unsettled at altitude, with cloud clinging to ridges and the odd late wintry burst, while the valley often warms quickly between showers (daytime roughly low teens to mid-20s).

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

Around the Refuge de l'Alpe de Villar-d'Arène, the air is cool and often grey with drizzle; brief colder incursions can bring snow on the highest ground before easing toward the milder valley at Le Monêtier-les-Bains and Vallouise. Crossing the big cols toward Refuge du Pré de la Chaumette and Refuge de Vallonpierre, expect frequent showers with occasional heavy bursts, separated by short clear windows. The descent into La Chapelle-en-Valgaudémar usually finds brighter breaks, though showers still bubble up and can be lively for a time. The climb to Refuge des Souffles returns to cooler, more exposed weather with repeated showers and, on the coldest pulses, brief wintry precipitation, while daytime temperatures overall sit in the low teens to low 20s.
