From sea breezes at La Línea into cork-oak hills and white villages, then out across open farmland toward Sevilla, the Vía Serrana rewards cooler, longer days and avoids the inland heat. On the Vía Serrana, the most reliable start window is late January to early February, late March to mid April, or October to mid November.
These periods usually give mild walking temperatures, decent daylight, and only brief interruptions from passing showers—ideal for the exposed stretches as you near Sevilla and the hillier stages in the middle.

Late November to December and early January
Tip: Regardless of month, carry enough water on the flatter stages into Sevilla and be ready for short, sharp showers in the cooler months.
Of course, while these recommendations provide a solid starting point, everyone's preferences and circumstances are unique. For example, if you prefer walking in the cooler morning hours to avoid midday heat, you might prioritize dates with drier conditions. On the other hand, if you are more accustomed to colder climates, you may choose to avoid hotter periods - even if it means encountering more rain. Our search tool allows you to customize your journey to align with your specific needs and preferences, ensuring the best possible experience on the Camino.
Furthermore, if your plan differs from walking the standard stages from La Línea de la Concepción to Seville, then you can edit the Search Settings below accordingly.
