About weather on the Camino de los Faros

The Camiño dos Faros follows Galicia’s wild Costa da Morte from Malpica to the lighthouse at Fisterra, with high cliffs, long sands, small ports, and constant Atlantic exposure. Many walkers choose July and August for longer daylight, generally drier paths, sea breezes on headlands, and active coastal services. Outside that window, weather can flip quickly between sun, cloud, and showers, with shorter days, stronger gusts, heavier bursts of rain, and occasionally slick rock, sand, and boardwalks.

  • Winter: Frequent rain and overcast skies mix with sunny spells; temperatures hover from near freezing to mid‑teens, with occasional freezing rain and moderate winds.
  • Spring: Alternating sunshine and moderate to heavy showers; temperatures range from cool nights to warm afternoons, with visibility and trail conditions changing quickly.
  • Summer: Longer daylight and generally drier paths meet sporadic heavy showers and notable winds; temperatures vary from warm to very hot, with dynamic sun‑cloud cycles.
  • Autumn: Starts mild with sunny spells and brief showers, then shifts toward frequent fronts, heavier rain, overcast periods, shorter days, and cooler mornings.
